Huckleberries

We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality, all-natural products, made in small batches and produced in the USA.

The huckleberries used in our Wildbeary Huckleberry products are very unique berries, grown only in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, Idaho and Montana. They ripen in the mid to late summer months and that is when the picking season is in full force. Native Americans were the first to realize the benefits of huckleberries not only as a major food source but for medicinal purposes.

Shaver Farms is extremely fortunate to have a team of independent pickers that forge the mountains of Idaho to hand pick only the best huckleberries for us. We insist upon plump, purple berries as they are the sweetest for our huckleberry products.

Ask any seasoned huckleberry picker where they get their berries and you get replies like, “oh, from Huckleberry Mountain” or “in Idaho.” It’s like expecting a fisherman to disclose his or her favorite fishing hole – it’s a guarded secret never to be disclosed. This only adds to the uniqueness of the huckleberry.

Not only does Shaver Farms produce an exclusive line of huckleberry products, it has extended the same high quality, all-natural standards using other fruits, berries and spices. When developing our unique and original recipes for our Sweet and Savory Fruit Spreads and Fruit Rubs we made the choice to purchase the highest quality berries from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. These exceptional fruits and berries have enabled us to use less added sugar, bringing out the true rich flavor of the fruits.

Originality and flexibility of usage were important aspects in the development of our spread and rub recipes. You will not find a Cherry Pie, Peach Cobbler or Strawberry & Rhubarb Crisp Fruit Spread elsewhere on the market. And our Wildbeary fruit rubs not only enhance the flavor of meat, poultry and seafood, but can also be used in dips, pasta dishes and sandwiches.
